Welcome

An impressive line up of key European Banking delegates assembled for the highly anticipated 7th European Banking Forum,, in March 2009.

The venue for EBF 2009 was the luxurious Westin Grand in Frankfurt, Germany. This high-level event included keynote presentations, workshops as well as a busy schedule of pre-arranged business meetings. The conference programme was developed in conjunction with the Financial Services Club (FSC) and made up of a diverse panel of senior banking representatives and industry experts.

“I learnt about IT solutions I did not know existed. Networking with peers and suppliers was excellent as well”
Information Risk Manager, ING Belgium

For the first time EBF 2009 covered two separate streams; Retail Banking Business Development and Management and Risk and Compliance. Chris Skinner from the Financial Services Club opened up the programme with an insightful presentation into ‘The Future of Banking’ which was followed on by interesting and innovative workshops from Headline Sponsors, Cisco and IBM. Further panel discussions and presentations led by companies such as Tieto, Harland Financial Solutions Worldwide and SAP encouraged attendees to get involved and develop best practice. Subjects covered at EBF 2009 included:

  • Will video enable retail bank customers to get proper advice at last?
  • The role of EU institutions in managing the financial crisis
  • Mobile banking - show me the money!
  • E-Banking for the Next Generation
  • Maximising operational efficiency in international retail banks
  • What is happening in the world of finance and what is the industry outlook for 2009-2010?
  • The next generation of retail banking - what's in store?
  • Tackling fraud in online channels - where do banks step in?
  • How to build a financial power brand
  • Commercial Reality: Espionage Threat and Countermeasures

“I was very happy with the event and the performance of your team”
Sales Manager, Autonomy

Alongside the busy conference programme, delegates at EBF 2009 enjoyed numerous opportunities to network with fellow peers and build new relationships. The Friday evening dinner hosted by Hewlett Packard was fantastic, set in the beautiful and glamorous surroundings of The Gallery within the Stadel Art Museum. SecondFloor hosted Saturday night’s dinner which took place at the Westin Grand including pre-dinner drinks followed by a delicious evening meal.

The feedback from this year’s event has been tremendous. Attendees are positive that business would be generated from the meetings that took place with several organisations reporting that contact has been on-going between buyers and suppliers.
